Our Story
The McGAFAN Family Life Foundation was born out of a simple act of compassion. In 2016, our founders, Dr. Marcel Awasi and Mrs. Georgette Awasi, visited an orphanage as part of a charity outreach before their wedding. Moved by the children’s stories and the harsh realities they faced, they were inspired to do more. With support from friends and a vision to build stronger, healthier communities, they started small—with food drives and youth mentorship.
What began as a grassroots movement quickly grew into a dedicated not-for-profit organization, focused on empowering individuals and families through education, healthcare, and economic opportunity. Every initiative we lead is rooted in love, resilience, and a deep belief that every family deserves dignity, hope, and a real chance at success.
Our Mission
To inspire, empower, equip, and uplift underprivileged and economically disadvantaged communities by providing them with the tools, opportunities, and support they need to build brighter futures, lead positive change, and unlock their full potential.
Our Services
Access to Education
- Promote education, especially for students from economically disadvantaged families
- Offer tutoring, school supplies, scholarships, and after-school programs
Health & Wellness
- Provide free or low-cost medical services and mental health support
- Run health education initiatives, vaccination drives, and wellness checks
Meeting Basic Needs
- Deliver essentials like food, clean water, clothing, shelter, and healthcare
- Operate food banks, soup kitchens, and emergency shelters
Economic Empowerment
- Offer job training, skill-building workshops, and small business support
- Connect individuals to employment opportunities or microfinance services
Emergency Relief
- Provide aid during crises such as natural disasters, fires, pandemics, or personal emergencies
Youth Development
- Create safe spaces and structured activities to guide youth away from crime or unsafe environments
- Mentor young people and develop leadership skills
Community Building
Strengthen peer support systems and social networks
Foster unity and belonging through events, support groups, and cultural activities
